On the morning of August 16, 2023, the first session initiating the activity series of the 5th Asia Conference on Business and Economic Studies (ACBES 2023) - Special Training Workshop presented by Prof. Jo Bensemann, with the theme titled “Sustainability and Transformation - Studies on Post-COVID-19 Management” which took place successfully with the participation of more than 60 under a Hybrid form.

Prof. Jo Bensemann, Dean of the School of Management, Massey University (New Zealand), specializes in management issues, leadership skills, management and business development skills. Prof. Jo Bensemann is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES) - English version, owned by University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).

Prof. Jo Bensemann stated that a leading researcher in the field of administration and management needs to know how to build a value system suitable for research groups with leadership skills in funding and international partnerships besides the ability to think critically and aim for research tasks associated with sustainable development. Professor provided important knowledge in the field of management as well as summarized the remarkable changes in the world after the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes include major demographic shifts, world’s population, technological developments, and new requirements for skills and knowledge in the labor market in nearly every sector. Specifically, Prof. Jo believed that leadership and management-related studies that may be useful in the future, including: Competitive leadership, organizational capacity, entrepreneurship orientation, and innovation. At the same time, the upcoming human resource needs will require leadership, entrepreneurship, practical problem-solving skills, innovation, social responsibility, ethics, integrity, and a global perspective. Upon focusing on new research trends, it will be incumbent on experts and interdisciplinary research groups to help to strengthen their networks and to share practical experiences and to expand research opportunities towards sustainability.

Prof. Jo also shared a lot of experience from her research process for young researchers who wish to start their scientific careers in the field of management and administration. As a pioneer both in academia and in research, the professor continuously emphasized on the values of a researcher in the conduct of scientific work: integrity and responsibility, regardless of conducting individual or group research, all of which aim at creating values that help society and community.

Discussing at the Special Training Workshop, Arjun Krisma - PhD Candidate in the field of economics, from India - participating in ACBES 2023 as the author of a study invited to present at the workshop, expressed his interest in the article sharing and asked questions about the methods of applying the characteristics of European management to Asian countries listed as Vietnam and India, as well as expressing concerns in learning management research methods when there are many cultural differences. With the above question, Prof. Jo Bensemann considered this an interesting perspective and it was worth conducting an empirical study of cultural differences between the two countries.
